praise him in the storm

Have you ever felt like no matter what you do, you keep getting knocked down?

The coffee gets spilt, the clothes get ruined. Your children wake up cranky, and you are unable to please them. You lose your keys or crack your phone.

You go above and beyond with your tasks at work, but go unnoticed. You don't have the money to pay for rent or your car note. You are close to completing a goal and then it gets blown away. You're relationship feels like it's slowly slipping away. Loved ones pass away unexpectedly.

Time and time again, trial after trial....

We cry, we get angry, we don't understand what we are doing wrong. We question why these things are happening to us. We feel defeated. We feel like failures.

In your deepest darkest moments, who are you praising?

Do you chose to turn to the things that tempt you like drugs or alcohol to ease the pain, or do you chose to look up and talk to the one who's loves you through all the pain?

It is so easy to only praise the Lord when things are going good in life and then blame him when things are going wrong.

BUT one thing that we have to realize is that God is giving us these trails so that we can have a much stronger faith. In those moments, he is preparing your hearts for something far greater.

When we are in the dark and feel stuck, he is presenting us with new opportunities.

We have the choice to choose how we are going to deal with each thing that is thrown our way. We can easily choose defeat, OR we can choose victory. We can choose anger and anxiety, OR we can choose joy and serenity.

I have had some pretty dark moments in my life and I know how easy it is to be filled with despair and uncertainty. However, since I have learned that Jesus is walking alongside me, holding my hand in those hard times, I am able to feel more free. I can completely trust him and know that his plan is greater than whatever plan I thought I had for my life.

I can now look back at those days that were very difficult and see God's hand through it all. Yes, those times were hard and still may not make the most sense, but I am able to see that I would not have been given certain opportunities or met certain people if it wouldn't have been for that ridiculously hard moment. Giving my fears and worries to Him has given me such amazing peace in my life.

No one is a perfect Christian. No one has perfect faith.

But guess what?

If your faith isn't perfect (which I just said no ones faith is!!), then God's not done with you yet. He is walking alongside you, holding your hand and making a way.

Life may seem hopeless right now, especially if things hit again and again, knocking the breathe out of you as you fall to your knees, weeping BUT that thing that you desire, that car, that house, that job, that relationship, that opportunity..... it will come when your heart is ready to carry it.

So for now, keep pushing, keep praying, and keep praising him during your storm.

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." Romans 8:18

"When a woman is giving birth, she has sorrow because her hour has come, but when she has delivered the baby, she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world." John 16:21

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:33
