let Him in

Phones have taught us to never look up. Someone may be talking to us but if we're looking down we aren't listening. It is hard to build a relationship when you aren't taking the time to actively pursue the other person. We cannot experience a relationship with someone whom we never seek.

In the same way that a phone can only go so long without being connected to its energy source, we can't go without being connecting to the One who gives us life. Apart from Christ our life is empty, but with Christ we have all that we need. 2 Peter 1:3 states that "His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us by His own glory and goodness."

We must look up and notice the beauty all around us. A life disconnected from the source is a miserable one, and I don't know about you, but I don't to live my life searching for satisfaction in temporary things when I know I have direct access to the God of the universe.

Take a moment to think about what you are most connected to. Who is it that you are looking up to? Who are you following and being influenced by on social media?

Your heart follows what its fed. Don't follow your heart, inform your heart. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says that "the heart cannot love what the mind does not know."

We can't expect God to be the source of our peace if the world is the source of our satisfaction. There are many great things about social media, but sometimes a good thing becomes a bad thing when it becomes a god thing. True satisfaction in life will never come from anything other than Christ himself. No matter how far you've strayed away from Him or how long you've been distracted by the things of this world, Jesus is knocking on the door to your heart, but it is up to you whether or not you decide to let Him in.

As my brother once said, "God is a gentleman, He will not force himself on you. He will do whatever you allow him to do." We will never truly experience His goodness if we don't allow Him to enter our hearts.

Let Him in.
